Celebrating our first decade of exciting Silverton Fine Arts
Festivals
August 21–22, 2010
The tenth annual Silverton Fine Arts Festival is set for
August 21–22 in Silverton's shady Coolidge–McClaine Park at the intersection of Coolidge and
Charles Streets. The artist and food booths are open Saturday, 10am–7pm, and Sunday, 10am–6pm. Complementary shuttle service and free
parking are available at the Robert Frost School parking lot at 301 Westfield and The Oregon Garden at 879 W. Main Street. Admission to the festival is free. The
family-friendly days feature two entertainment stages, an international
food court, a wine and beer garden, and arts activities.
Welcome to the
tenth annual Silverton Fine Arts Festival. Although the festival has been
held regularly since 2001, it is not well known that an early festival
actually occurred on Sunday, July 16, 1972 in a small area of Coolidge–McClaine
Park. There were 140 local exhibitors and 24 of them were members of the
Junior Art Club. Since there was no permanent Arts Center at that time, the
Festival's most important objective was to create a public awareness for a
permanent center aimed at developing local artistic talent. In the ensuing
years, other art festivals were organized, but it was not until 2001 that
the Association's newly-named Fine Arts Festival Committee launched what has
now become a very successful decade as one of this region's most respected
and admired arts festivals.
The
Fine Arts Festival’s successes support, to a large extent, the various
educational programs of the Silverton Arts Center. Your interest and
attendance in our festival, and the participation of the artists whose high
quality creations you purchase and enjoy, are an integral financial resource
for those programs.
We
invite you and your family to become participants in this festival. Enjoy
the cool environs of our park, visit with the artists, partake of the fine
performances at our entertainment stages, experience the variety of flavors
at our international food court, refresh yourself at our wine and beer
garden, and, perhaps, wake up your artistic flair at our hands-on art
activities. Above all, we are extremely proud to welcome you to our tenth
organized Silverton Fine Arts Festival anniversary. Please enjoy yourself!
