Workshops at the Arts Center
All workshops are held at the Silverton Arts Center in Coolidge–
McClaine Park. For more information about any of these workshops,

WORLD OF PASTELS/Instructor Lori Webb. Chalk pastels
are one of Lori’s favorite mediums. Explore how blending and layering
can create convincing drawings from still life objects to portraits,
wildlife and landscapes. Options presented in class will fit any skill
level, beginners to advanced.
FEBRUARY 2 & 9, Saturday, 10AM-3PM, Park House,
Materials Included. Cost: $60.
CALLIGRAPHY/Instructor Richard Fenwick. This is a beginner
and intermediate level classto learn Chancery and Uncial letter forms.
We will use color in design and layout. New and unusual calligraphy
tools will be introduced. The last class is a four-hour fun workshop
for creating individual designs.
FEBRUARY 5, 12, 19 Tuesday 7-9PM & Saturday, February 23 10AM-2PM,
Park House,
Materials Included. Cost: $60.
FUN WITH ACRYLICS/Instructor Theresa Sharrar. Using trees as
our model this class will include drawing and color mixing. A free
form and expressive approach will be encouraged as we explore shapes
in nature and work with negative space. You will take home a completed
painting.
MARCH 1 & 8, Saturday, 10AM-3PM, Park House,
Materials Included. Cost: $60.
PORTRAITS IN OILS/Instructor Renaldo Santa. Class is for all
student levels and will cover basic fundamentals of portrait
composition using the grid and other methods. Learn how to use and
blend oils to make skin tones and shadows for a successful portrait.
Class subject will be painted and most materials will be provided.
MARCH 15, 22 & 29, Saturday, 9AM-Noon,
Art Center. Cost: $60.
MAGIC OF WATERCOLOR/ Instructor Phyllis Schmidt. Class is
for beginners and intermediate students. Basic techniques will be
taught as well as different paper choices, paints and tools. You will
learn many watercolor tricks to get a variety of effects.
APRIL 12 & 19, Saturday, 10AM-3PM, Park House,
Materials Included. Cost: $60.
PHOTOGRAPHY/Instructor Joel Zak. Wonder how a photographer
can take that common scene you pass by everyday and turn it into
something extraordinary? Join professional photographer Joel Zak in a
two-seminar event that opens the door to a new way of ‘seeing’ and how
to capture that new ‘vision’. There will be a classroom workshop
followed by a local field trip that puts into practice what you have
learned.
MAY 15 Thursday 7-9PM & MAY 17 Saturday 10AM-3PM Park House
Cost: $60.
ONGOING CLASSES:
WOODCARVING/Instructor Dave Disselbrett. Features a
different project each month and teaches woodcarving.
Meets every Wednesday 7-9PM January 2 thru May 21, Materials provided.
Park House.
Cost: $5./class
LET’S PAINT/Instructor Ann Altman. Bring your own ideas and
materials. Learn how to problem solve your painting problems in the
media of your choice. Some drawing and painting experience very
helpful.
Meets Thursdays 7-9PM February 7 thru March 6 and April 3 thru May 8.
Borland classroom
Cost: $50./6 classes.
DRAWING FUNDAMENTALS/Instructor Pat Love. Improve your
ability to see and respond with imagination and feeling. Learn a
variety of techniques and use of tools.
April 5 & 19 & May 3 & 17 Saturday, 10AM-1PM, Art Center.
Materials Included. Cost: $60.
